Sustainable development is about ensuring a better quality of life for everyone; now and for generations to come
Timber products, sourced from well managed forests, ensure that more trees are planted than are cut down for processing. The younger trees that are planted as replacements are better adapted for reducing atmospheric CO2 thus further reducing greenhouse gases. In some instances, areas of deciduous trees are planted within conifer forests to encourage a diversity of wildlife.

One forestry management scheme, PEFC (the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) promotes sustainably managed forests through independent third party certification. This scheme has certified and audited NorDan AS windows and doors as achieving PEFC chain of custody (licence No. PEFC/03-31-16), thus verifying that the timber used in the manufacture of the products comes from sustainably managed sources.
