Specified and approved
Fire resistant windows are tested in the UK for both integrity and insulation to the requirements of BS 476-22:1987. NorDan windows are tested under Norwegian requirements which include similar test standards but are graded as: F for integrity and B for insulation. Fire resistant windows are available with different glazing options. NorDan has a variety of fixed and opening windows tested to B30 (30 minutes insulation), F30 (30 minutes integrity) and F30/B30 (combined).

Limited sizes
Selected types of NorDan inward opening and fixed windows can be supplied fire certified and can also incorporate standard section transoms and mullions. Please ask for further details.

Fire escape windows
In the event of a fire it is important that some windows in your home are big enough to be used as alternative escape routes. Most of the NorDan window range can be produced to a size that will provide an effective emergency escape route.

The ideal window for emergency use is NorDan’s 1 handled, or 3 handled tilt and turn, which affords the best clear opening dimensions and the easiest egress in case of fire.
